There is not much going on this weekend show-wise. I will be taking off the weekend to finish getting ready for hunting season! A couple of hunting seasons ago, though, I wrote a song that made it on my debut album. This song is called, "Let's Get Bucked Up". You should check it out, and you might get a giggle!
Monday, I am auditioning for a brief show at the Super Bowl Houston Festival. Wish me luck!
Saturday is the Texas A&M vs Bama game! The only way I would be more excited is if I was at the game, but I am on a musician's budget, so alas... I'll just be screaming at my TV. Gig 'em!
A quote that I read this week that stuck with me, purely because it is pretty much exactly how I live my life is the following....
"Life is 10% what happens to us, and 90% how we react to it"
This is so true! You can choose to complain, or let everything impact your life. Or you can choose to do your thing. When I got burned, I could have stayed in that dark place and wallowed in my misery. I could have let that injury cripple me forever. I could have let it change me for the worse. Instead, I embraced it, learned from it, and let it change me for the better. Everyone has their bag of shit that happens to them. Some people's shit is bigger, some is smaller, some is physical, some is mental, some you can see, and some you can't. Everyone has it though. It comes down to, at the end of the day, how you react to it. Let it make you stronger, build yourself up, and change you for the better. Take this journey called life by the hand and run with it!

What a weekend!
Thursday night, I went out to play a show at Blake Street in Columbus, TX and had a great crowd & a great time! If you're ever in the area, make sure to swing through there & grab a burger (or pizza or one of their other delicious menu items)! Hopefully, I will be back very soon!
Friday night, I bounced down to Kenedy, TX to Jerry B's. If you've ever been south out of San Antonio, on 181, you're sure to have seen this big restaurant with the old plane out front. Well, that is Jerry B's restaurant. Let me tell you, they have not only good food, great drinks, and amazing service...they have some of the best acoustics of a venue I've heard yet! Playing there was like a dream! Another venue that I hope I can regularly visit!
Saturday was Ziegenbock Music Festival, and it was HOT!! However, despite nearly having a heat stroke, the lineup was FANTASTIC! They focused on more regional & local country & southern rock musicians this year, and it was a win! I got to catch some friends, and I got to catch some favorites. If you haven't gone, or stopped going because the lineup was getting boring, you missed out! They got it right! Hopefully, they do the same thing next year, I'm already eager to get back.
Sunday, was full of playing with the dogs & pig, and cleaning out the garage. I'm remodeling it to make it into a rehearsal room & work shop. The sooner it is clean, the sooner I can get full band shenanigans going again!
Have you seen the new merchandise? Everyone has been loving it so much, I might sell out before it gets on the website store! Come out to a show soon & grab yours before it's gone!
Please keep requesting my radio single, "I Won't Be Bothered" from all of your local & online country music stations. It takes two minutes, and means the world. This is such a personal message for all of us, especially in these times, and we all need to rise above hate & shake it off, and not let it effect us anymore. It is National Bullying Awareness Prevention Month, and what better time for "I Won't Be Bothered" to be taking over the radio airwaves!
Thanks for your support!
See y'all on the road!
Tonight, I am venturing just down the road to Columbus, TX. There is a bar/restaurant out there called Blake Street, which I have been eyeballing for a while every time I drive past it. I'll be playing from 6:30pm til 9:30pm.

Friday night, I'm hitting the road out to Kenedy, TX! I'll be at Jerry B's Restaurant from 7pm til 10pm. I've heard great things about this place & their amazing food! I can't wait to check it out for myself.

Saturday, at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston is Ziegenbock Music Festival! I've gone every year for at least 6 years. But, last year, I didn't. The headliners were getting more and more "Nashville" country, when all everyone wanted to see was Texas Country & Southern Rock. They finally seemed to get the memo, and this year is DECKED OUT with Texas Country, Red Dirt, Southern Rock, and the best of the local bands. It is going to be phenomenal. I can't wait. It's also supposed to rain Friday, which will make it nice and muddy, therefore more fun. I am STOKED.
Sunday, I will hopefully be doing some fishing! We'll see how it goes. The weather needs to cooperate first, though! Stay tuned next Tuesday to see if it really happens, haha.
5 Songs On My Weekend Playlist
1. Never Come Back Again - Austin Plaine
2. Hand Me Down - Cody Jinks
3. God's Gonna Cut You Down - Kaitlin Butts
4. Angola's Lament - Sam Riggs
5. Save My Soul - Thieving Birds
This past weekend in Gail, TX, I had yet another wonderful show at Coyote Country Store. Becky is always so welcoming and the food & people are just amazing. If you are ever driving through on your way to Lubbock or elsewhere, or if you are ever in the Borden County area hunting....GO THERE. Seriously, you will thank me later.
Some of the great folks from Big Star Radio over in Snyder made it out too. It's always great seeing Gooney & Curt (#GooneyforPresident)!! Then, after the show finished up, I ran over into Snyder to have a couple of beers at HornyToad Pub & Grub. They didn't have live music going on that night (I believe Rich O'Toole was the night before), but it was nice getting my feet back in that place again also! It's a great bar!
Sunday, on the way back, I planned on going through Longhorn Cavern State Park & checking out the caverns. However, after driving a couple hours out of the way to get there. They sold the last tickets for the tour we were trying to go on to the people in front of us in line. I asked if there was a way that they could look & see if any of the people who had pre-ordered online had not shown up so I could take their spot. Or, if they could possibly squeeze us on the tour anyway. The woman behind the counter was EXTREMELY rude with her response, saying that it didn't matter if everyone showed up or not and basically told us we were shit out of luck. I explained that we drove basically 5 hours to get there, and she muttered something about us planning ahead better next time. Overall, terrible experience and we didn't even get in the darn park! Very disappointing. Better luck next time hopefully.
Upcoming this week.....
It's my first time at both of these places. So, if you are in the area come on out! If you know anyone in the area, make sure to invite them to the events!
Saturday, I will not be playing any shows, but will be out enjoying the festivities at the Ziegenbock Music Festival in Houston, TX at Sam Houston Racepark! I'll have some CD's & Koozies on me! So, come find me & get one!
Keep requesting "I Won't Be Bothered" from all of your local & online country radio stations! We are at 47 this week on the Texas Regional Radio Report! Thank you so much for requesting it & to all of the stations playing it so far!
Wow, you stuck with me for 2 posts now! Bravo! Soon enough you'll be running away screaming & saying you can't read any more of my rambles. Mark my words, haha.
This upcoming weekend is going to be a good one. If you (or anyone you know for that matter) are located in the Gail, Snyder, Lubbock, Big Spring, or Borden County areas.....COME ON OUT TO COYOTE COUNTRY STORE!! This place is seriously great. The insane West Texas weather sure as heck didn't scare me off a few weeks ago, but rather left me itching for more! So, I'm baaaaaack!
I will be playing Saturday night, October 8 from 6pm until 9pm. For more details check out the Facebook event by clicking on the picture below.
Friday night, I am going to try my hand at some hog hunting again in Central Texas. Then, Sunday, on the way back from Coyote Country Store in Gail, TX I BELIEVE I am going to attempt to go through Longhorn Cavern State Park! I have been wanting to do some more rocky hiking & cave exploring just sounds bomb. So, that's the plan....for now. But, anyone that knows me, knows that can change on a wim.
If you know of anywhere cool I should stop between Gail, TX & Katy, TX let me know! I'm always open to suggestions!
Every week when I'm going into the weekend, I always tweak around my weekend playlist & my "pump up" playlist that I play before shows. Sometimes adding new songs, moving others to the top, etc. I figured I might incorporate something similar into the blog for fun.
So, here is the new "segment" on this blog....
5 Songs On My Weekend Playlist
1. Live at Gruene Hall - William Clark Green - I know I just broke my won rules straight off the bat, but you can't pick a favorite off of that album. Best live album I've heard in a long, long time. I've had it on repeat. Buy it, listen to it, love it. Thank me later.
2. Hitchhikin' - Dolly Shine
3. OK Whiskey - Jason Eady
4. Sippin' on Shine - Jerrott Zoch & The OSR Band
5. Free From The Mold - The New Offenders
There you have it! I linked all of them up to the iTunes store for each one for ease of adding it to your own collection! If you have new music for me to discover, shoot me a line! I love discovering new stuff!
Stay tuned for Tuesday's post to see what trouble I got into this weekend & click the picture below for more details on my show on Saturday! Invite all your West Texas friends!
Well, hey there!
So, I'm starting to blog by popular request (of like 2 people hehe). These first couple of weeks I will be doing only 2 days a week of posting, Tuesday/Thursday. This may change after the first few weeks. But, for now, we're going for it!
This is going to be a culmination of music, travels, lists, music reviews, opinions...pretty much anything & everything that goes through my crazy head. The first post of the week, for the most part will be a weekend recap.
Here goes nothing...
This weekend, I had the pleasure of doing a private ranch show & hanging out with some of my best friends. There was a lot of exploring, some cow chasing, s'mores, and enjoying the gorgeous Texas weather. There was a "cold front" that came through, which made it a lovely 80-ish during the day, and it was amazing. Not quite as good as a Colorado cold front, but I'll take it!
I even was able to get in some hog hunting while I was out there. We didn't get anything though, probably because we were making too much noise though with the radio & drinking games, haha! But, we did see one big boar come out. Better luck next time!
At the ranch house, there was a teeny tiny baby kitten that we all befriended. She was spoiled rotten while we were there, and pretty much didn't do much walking because we were carrying her so much. She would go from vicious killer kitten to napping in 10 seconds flat. It was adorable!
I couldn't get a very good picture of it, but there was the biggest rainbow I think I've ever seen one evening. I only got one "leg" of it in the picture. But, man, let me tell you...in person, it was gorgeous sitting there in the sunset.
The Texas Regional Radio Report came out over the weekend as well, and I am sitting pretty at the 51 spot for "I Won't Be Bothered"! October is bullying awareness month & what better time for this song to be creeping into the upper realms of the charts! I will touch more on this on my Thursday post. Keep requesting from all of your local & online country radio stations, though! It takes just a moment and makes the biggest difference.
Coming up this week, I'm going to be booking up shows for the rest of the year. If you have a request for a venue or a city to make sure to touch on , comment below or shoot me a message!
Then, Friday, I'm going to try and get back out and do some more hog hunting. Saturday I will be back in Gail, TX at Coyote Country Store! I've got some new merchandise that will be debuting at this show. So, if you are in the Lubbock, Big Spring, or Snyder areas, be sure to come out! Click the banner below for more details!
