Hey guys, First things first, I am sorry for being out of the loop for the past few months. The week after my last post, some things happened that made my life become a lot more complicated for a little while. It's taking a turn for the better, but in the interim, much more difficult. So, I've let a lot of things fall through the cracks, mainly due to there's a lot going on that I can't talk about currently. I will give a full update with all of the changes that have been & will be occurring within the next few weeks. However, for now, please follow my Facebook page and join the Facebook group to see any last minute shows I'm jumping on. That's the main place that I am updating at the moment. Rest assured, I will get back on the ball here in a few weeks once everything is sorted out and we will resume videos, emails, all social media accounts, and all that fun stuff!! Now, on to a quick announcement. I'VE BEEN NOMINATED AGAIN THIS YEAR FOR "NEW FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR" AT THE TEXAS REGIONAL RADIO MUSIC AWARDS!!! I would love it so much, and it would be a ray of sunshine to my insane life right now if you would go over to www.trrma.net, sign up for free, and vote for me! It takes just a couple of moments and it would mean the world to me. Thank you so very much, and stay tuned for more updates coming very soon! <3 Francie

Hey y'all! I've been having way more fun doing videos than blog posts, so I had a wild idea. What if I start making videos to bring all the things I like to do together ... video editing, adventuring, trying new foods, and playing music! So, I present to you ... Whiskey Wednesday's Weekly Recap! Check out the first video, and make sure to subscribe to my channel! So, ICYMI, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of mine recently....to have a jeep! The timing has been perfect, because I had several weekends off this month, and some afternoon free time. I've been living up the jeep life as much as possible in my free time! I've already been to shows, meets, parties, get togethers, and shenanigans. I've been on a quest to find any and every dirt road left in the Katy area, and have succeeded to some extent. I've flooded out my interior, and had the all day cleaning session picking marsh mud out of the crevices. It's been fun, lol. Anyway, to get some use out of my GoPro and free time I'm not wasting gas & creating havoc, I made a couple of videos! Check them out, and subscribe to my channel! I'm heading to Colorado this weekend, but will have a threepeat of back to back shows coming to my hill country friends the following week! Hit the "Calendar" tab above to see details! Peace, Love, and Whiskey y'all! ![]() I hope all you mama's had a fabulous Mother's Day out there. I hope all you graduates are happy & relieved that school is over. I hope all you other people got out and enjoyed the GORGEOUS weather that was dropped in our laps this whole weekend (or at least everywhere I was at). I didn't get into too much this weekend that is postable. Then, I was too hungover at my show and/or quite possibly still drunk to allow any photography (hahahaha aka I forgot). The whole weekend was a blurry whiz of disc golf, graduation parties, and a show at TopGolf in Katy. I have come out the other end alive, with a few years shaved off my liver and lungs, a few less frisbees in my collection, and a few new fans who came out to TopGolf on Sunday. That's what life is all about though, right?! The blurry swirls of fun, friends, love, and sunshine mixed along with some laughter, whiskey, and maybe a few too many cigarettes. Don't be afraid to be a little impulsive, dance in the rain, run in the sunshine, whisper to a flower, and love one another. ![]() Howdy! This past weekend was a working vacation of sorts. KOUL FM out of Corpus Christi, TX is helping put on a series of shows at Mike Cotten's BBQ in Portland, TX. They invited me out to play, and I decided to take the entire weekend off (other than that show of course) to get in some quality fishing & beach time. The wind was against us this weekend for fishing. But, I caught several small catfish & drum with some frozen shrimp & finger mullet cut up. I definitely need to do a full clean out & restock of my tackle box before I hit the coast again in a couple weeks for some more fishing. I'll make a "What's In My Tackle Box" post once I do that for sure. ![]() Saturday, we briefly went through Port Aransas for a few hours before my show that night. Obviously, I wanted seafood cause we're at the beach. So, after some Yelp-ing on the ferry ride, I came across Iries Island Food. Tacos & seafood? Yes, please! Everyone in the reviews was raving about it, and honestly I've never seen a restaurant on Yelp before with this high of a number of 5 star reviews EVER. So, we get there, and the line is out the door....great sign right?! It moves quickly, and we get a Fish Po' Boy, & their 2 special tacos - Chicken Tandoori Taco & Moonfish Taco. I WILL DRIVE BACK 3 HOURS JUST TO EAT AT THIS PLACE AGAIN & DRIVE BACK! The Po' Boy was good, but their wheelhouse is the tacos. I have never had tacos so good in my life. The Moonfish taco was hands down the best taco I've ever had, ever. They were good sized tacos, and very reasonably priced. Then, the homemade tortillas they put them on, and the sauces!! Drool... One taco was plenty for me for a meal, and very filling. The flavors were out of this world, everything complementing everything else just perfectly, and nothing overpowering any other element. They have a huge array of sauces, one for anybody. I had the Red Dragon sauce, and it was great. None of them are overpowering like many sauces, just enough flavor to make it pop. We tried going back the next day, because they were THAT good. But, they were closed on Sundays :( ![]() Saturday night, I played at Mike Cotten's BBQ in Portland, TX. It was a little slow because there were some big events going on locally and in nearby towns. However, I still had a blast and the people that were there were so nice. Their BBQ was very good. I recommend the jalapeno sausage or the moist brisket. Some restaurants serve you up bread as a nibble item, and this place does crackers and some amazing spread that I can only guess is cheez wiz & butter. I don't care what it is, but it was damn good too! I can't wait to go back!
![]() After we finished up at Fins, we drove down the beach until we found a nice open area (not too hard to find on a Sunday as all of the weekenders are packing up and heading out). We stopped and made some terrible attempts to fly a stunt kite I got on clearance at Walmart a couple years ago. Then, got to fishing. Something out there was taking massive chunks out of the finger mullet, but no matter how I hooked the bait, nothing would hook on! I summing it up to my old hooks & my desperate need to update my tackle box supplies. If you have any recommendations, let me know! Anyway, after I'd about given up on fishing, I was just hanging out in the water. I see something large-ish & shadowy dart under a wave about 5 feet to my left. My instinct thought shark, so I froze waiting to see where it went after the wave cleared. The wave began to settle down and the thing was coming closer and closer. I was thinking..."Shark? Large fish? Weird log thing? TURTLE?! Why is there a turtle in the ocean?! Oh yeah! That's a thing!" This large dinner plate sized sea turtle just swam right up to me, within a foot, looking around. I'm sure he was too busy chomping on the jellyfish that were plentiful around there, and didn't realize I was there. We both had a moment of eye contact when we both realized each other were there & what we were, and I then...naturally & impulsively...shouted "OMG THERE'S A SEA TURTLE!!!!!!!!!". This, of course, naturally & impulsively, caused the sea turtle to flee and that made me sad. But, how many people can say they've had a sea turtle just swim up to them and hang out for a minute? So, tacos & sea turtles. That makes up a great weekend to me! If you're in the Corpus Christi area, tune into KOUL FM for some great tunes, get some BBQ & moonfish tacos, and enjoy your time whether it is fishing or beachin' it! This weekend will be a local weekend with a couple of graduation parties, and Sunday I will be playing a daytime show at TopGolf in Katy! It's going to be fun, so come out and do some golfy things & check out their new stage! Click here for the Facebook Event! See y'all down the road! Francie ![]() After much research, we booked a spot at Sea Breeze RV Resort & Community in Portland, TX. Reasons we booked this park:
When we booked, they told us they would probably be closed by the time we got in Friday, but not to worry! As with most places, we can check in Saturday morning! So, they gave us our site number and all that jazz over the phone. They also were kind enough to let us know that we could check out a couple of hours late on Sunday at no extra charge to fish a little more off their pier without having to wake up super early after a Saturday night show. We were blown away! We got there Friday, about 10 minutes after the office closed, and got set up in our spot, then hot tub, pooled, and fished the night away. I spent all night Friday raving about how awesome this place was. Well, hit the brakes Jack cause Saturday is when things got hairy. We woke up and lazily started getting ready for our day. We were heading to Port Aransas for lunch, so we stopped through the office on the way out of the park to check in quickly just before lunchtime. The woman at the desk informed us that she wanted us to move for another RV that was coming in, and not move a little, but move across the park! No sirree, 1) we were there first & at 18 hours since arrival, were very well established, site decorated, etc. 2) the other spot was not easy in/easy out without waking up half the community with my loud truck 3) you would have to literally drive instead of walk to the fishing pier/pool/etc. Nope, nope, nope. We politely declined & explained, and the lady informed us then that our rate would be higher...not just higher...but higher than any of the prices on any of their website or literature! We told her, no we agreed & booked for this one price. She "oops"-ed it away, then a few moments later charged the card for the higher amount anyway! Then, we had to call her out on the second "accident" and get another manager involved. It was just frustrating! What a heck of a coincidence... ![]() It gets better! I pull in after my show, and there is someone locking the pool (right across from our site), who gives me the dirtiest look in the world (I'm talking a solid 30+ second stare down) & then shakes her head. I'd assume for my loud truck pulling in to the first site off the driveway past 10pm. Sorry! We told y'all! (Imagine if we had been all the way across the park...yeesh!) Then, the next morning, we wake up late & slowly as we do most Sundays after a show. We start getting our stuff together to go fish off their pier before packing up and heading out. I mentioned as we were walking out the door to head down (around 11:30AM), that maybe we should double check with the office & make sure they didn't change anything else on us. Glad we did! Turns out, they had no idea what we were talking about and if we weren't out of our spot by 12PM, they were going to charge us extra. We kindly informed them they had a MAJOR communication issue going on in their office & asked if we could extend by any way. They said no & basically sorry-not-sorry. So, we had to madly throw everything from our campsite into the garage, sinks & shower....unhook....and get out of there before 12. We went down the ways to a Walmart, to actually pack & get things situated (while I typed up my disappointed reviews on this park on Yelp, Facebook, and a couple of RV park apps). All-in-all, this RV park itself was awesome....but, the issues that arose with the office made it frustrating & not so fun. I would probably give it one more chance, because for all I know it may have been a new person in the office who booked us or something. But, if any of this were to happen again, I would not come back. 3 Sea Turtles out of 5 Sea Turtles for sure because of the experience with the office. I will do another review whenever I go back! Howdy!
Recently, I've been taking advantage of the 7800 acre park within bike-riding distance from my house....George Bush Park! I have been to the dog park several times. Then, I got lost once in the forest (pretty bad) because I impulsively went off on my bike without checking the trails map first, and ended up following an animal trail for about 30 minutes instead of the bike trail (oops!). I recently heard about the local alligators starting to get active, and could be seen from the main, paved hike & bike trail. Now, although I've lived in this relatively swampy alligator-y portion of the world most of my life, I've never seen an alligator in person! Well, other than the zoo, but not in the wild. I made it a goal last year to see a gator in the wild. Thus far, every trail that I had gone down that had held high hopes of "gator hunting" was a bust. So, last week, I went on a couple hikes through the park on the paved hike & bike trail WITH my camera, and no alligators. Of course. Side note: I have a really great new camera (Canon EOS Rebel T6 Digital SLR Camera Kit with EF-S 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm Zoom Lenses (Black)) and it takes AMAZING pictures of wildlife & nature, as well as videos! I just used it to shoot some videos for my best friends beer website & I was blown away! It's super affordable for a DSLR & the quality and ease-of-use is outstanding. If you're in the market for a new camera, go with this one! So, back to the story, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday & go ride my bike out on the paved hike & bike trail. Since I hadn't had any luck with any gator pictures previously, I left my camera at home instead of packing it in my backpack. Naturally, as I ride over the bridge through the swampy part....something catches my eye.....a log? No, it has a blunt nose, lumpy body, tapering tail....ALLIGATOR! A big, giant alligator! I slammed on my bike's brakes, backed up to where I could see it better, and cursed at myself for leaving my camera. I pulled out my iPhone, zoomed in, and took a grainy picture of this living "log". I'll post the picture in the gallery at the bottom of this post. As long as the weather cooperates, I'm going to go back this week with my Canon Rebel & zoom lens. I just got this case on Amazon Prime ---> AmazonBasics Holster Camera Case for DSLR Cameras - Black to hold my camera when I go adventuring & don't want to take the big case. It's sturdy & secure, with a hard rubber bottom so if my water leaks or anything, I know my camera will be fine! It's less than $10 too! I'm determined to get a good gator shot in my backyard park! This weekend - I'll be heading down to Portland, TX for the weekend to do some fishing & play a show at Mike Cotten's BBQ on Saturday night! If you're in the area, come hang out & enjoy some great food while I serenade you! Stay tuned to the Facebook Page for the event details, and I'll post them on here later this week.
